Algebra 2: Functions and Graphs
Bridge the gap between basic algebra and higher mathematics. Learn how to transform graphs, work with complex numbers, tame polynomials, and harness logarithms.
Like Duolingo, but for Algebra 2: Functions and Graphs. Tomo turns the whole topic into a game you play five minutes a day, until it actually sticks.
25 levels across 3 sections, about 50 minutes end to end, roughly 10 days at five minutes a day. It moves through The Function Playbook; Parabolas and Polynomial Landscapes; and Powers, Logs, and Rational Curves. It starts from scratch.

Key ideas in Algebra 2: Functions and Graphs
- Each input x and output y pair forms an (x, y) coordinate point on the plane
- Plotting every real number input connects discrete points into a continuous curve
- The overall shape directly reflects the algebraic rule relating inputs to outputs
- Adding or subtracting outside the function changes the output, moving the graph directly up or down
- Adding inside shifts the graph left because an input needs to be smaller to reach the same original value
- Subtracting inside shifts the graph right
- A negative outside multiplier flips the entire graph upside down across the x-axis
- A multiplier between 0 and 1 vertically compresses or flattens the graph
- A multiplier greater than 1 stretches the graph taller and steeper
- Transformations follow algebraic order of operations: multiplication before addition
- Stretches and compressions are evaluated before shifts
- Transformation rules modify inputs and outputs regardless of the base equation
- Parent functions like |x|, x^2, and x^3 serve as base templates that all shift and stretch identically under the same operations
- Modifying the input inside parentheses always controls horizontal position for any function family
- In composition f(g(x)), evaluate the inner function g(x) first
- The resulting output of the inner function becomes the input for the outer function f(x)
You've tried the other tabs
Thirty open tabs. Four facts you actually kept.
You watched. You nodded. By Sunday it was gone.
One answer, then back to scrolling.
Eight weeks. You meant to finish. You didn't.
Tomo gives Algebra 2: Functions and Graphs the Duolingo treatment: levels, streaks, and quick quizzes that test what you just learned. That game loop is what the tabs above never had, so it's the one you actually finish.
Here's what playing it feels like
A real question from this course. Take your best guess.
What happens when you plot every possible real number input for an equation instead of just a few whole numbers?
