- Лицевой замочек оставляет видимую поперечную перекладину спереди, а изнаночный прячет ее назад
- Для классического квадратного узла берут четыре конца шнура
- Центральные нити натянуты прямо и не расходуются по длине
- Боковые нити совершают все переплетения и укорачиваются в процессе
- Квадратный узел состоит из двух полуузлов с противоположным направлением
- Смена стороны (лево-право) уравновешивает натяжение и сохраняет полотно ровным
- Повторение одной и той же стороны заставляет узел закручиваться
- Одностороннее натяжение заставляет шнуры плавно разворачиваться вокруг основы
- Постоянное плетение в одну сторону дает объемную витую спираль
- Во втором ряду узел завязывают на двух нитях от левого узла и двух нитях от правого
