Key ideas in Speed Cubing: Your First Solve
- Center pieces are physically attached to the core and cannot move relative to each other
- The color of the center piece is the only permanent indicator of what color that side will be when finished
- The Daisy acts as a staging area where white edges face up around the yellow center
- Moving edges from the yellow face to the white face requires aligning the side colors first
- Center pieces dictate the final color and are fixed
- The sequence of the Daisy method
- A cross is only 'correct' if the side color of the edge piece matches the center piece of the side face
- Center pieces dictate the final color of a side
- Matching only the white side of the edge creates a broken cross that prevents the rest of the cube from solving
- Identifying a correctly aligned cross edge
- The move consists of four specific rotations: Right clock, Top clock, Right counter, Top counter
- The sequence of the Daisy method to form a cross
- Repeating this move eventually returns the cube to its starting state
- Corner pieces have three stickers and must match all three adjacent center colors
- Placing a white corner in the wrong spot will scramble the side colors even if the bottom looks white
- Recall of the Sexy Move sequence
