- Pashto greetings follow a multi-step sequence of mutual well-wishes rather than a single 'hello'
- Moving directly to business after just one greeting word is considered abrupt or rude
- 'Sangay ye?' translates to 'How are you?' in informal or general Pashto address
- 'Kha yam' means 'I am good' or 'I am fine' and is the default conversational return
- 'Jor ye?' and 'Rogh ye?' ask specifically about bodily health, fitness, and wholeness
- Inquiring about physical well-being is an expected courtesy before transitioning to business talk
- 'Shukr' expresses thankfulness and contentedness with one's current state
- Uttering 'Shukr' marks the conclusion of the reciprocal greeting ritual, smoothly opening the floor to the main conversation
- Pashto puts the action or linking verb at the absolute end of the sentence
- The person doing the action (subject) leads at the start
- Direct objects sit between the subject and the final verb
- 'Zma noom' means 'My name'
- The linking verb 'dai' (is) finishes the phrase after your name
- This formula lets you introduce yourself without needing personal verb conjugation
- 'Tə' is informal singular, reserved for peers, children, or close family
- 'Taso' is plural and the polite singular honorific used for elders, strangers, or respected figures
