Solving the Rubik's Cube
Demystify the world's most famous puzzle using the intuitive layer-by-layer method. Learn how pieces actually move, master a few universal finger patterns, and take your cube from scrambled to solved.
Like Duolingo, but for Solving the Rubik's Cube. Tomo turns the whole topic into a game you play five minutes a day, until it actually sticks.
A short one: 11 levels across 2 sections, about 22 minutes end to end, roughly 4 days at five minutes a day. It moves through Building the Foundation and Completing the Cube. It starts from scratch.

Key ideas in Solving the Rubik's Cube
- The six center pieces are physically fixed to the cube's internal core and never change position relative to each other
- The color of the center piece defines what color that entire face must be when the cube is solved
- No amount of turning outer layers moves a center piece to a different face
- Rubik's cubes are made of solid, multi-colored pieces (edges have two colors, corners have three) rather than independent stickers
- Moving an edge piece to put its white side on the cross always drags its second color along with it
- Solving involves positioning entire pieces so all their colored stickers match adjacent centers simultaneously
- The yellow center is directly opposite the white center on standard cubes
- Gathering white edges around the yellow center forms a staging pattern called the 'daisy'
- Building the daisy lets beginners focus purely on finding the white edges without having to align side colors at the same time
- Before sending a white edge down to the white face, you must match its side color to the matching side center piece by turning the top layer
- Rotating that side face 180 degrees (a half-turn) drops the white edge into place on the white face
- A proper white cross must align on both the white face and all four adjacent side centers
- Center pieces are fixed and define which colors belong on each face of the cube
- Every corner piece has exactly three colored stickers that never change relative to each other
- Corner pieces belong in specific slots determined by the side centers, not just any white position
- A corner's destination slot is the unique corner where its three matching centers intersect

Here's what playing it feels like
A real question from this course. Take your best guess.
You see a side of the cube with a red center piece. What color should that whole side be when solved?
